Food
Jonna 4/5
Suzanne – banana pancakes – 5/5
Reb – chicken schnitzel focaccia – 4/5
Wassim – big breakfast – 5/5 – “you can tell it's good when someone like me eats it all”.
Lizzie – muesli – 5/5
Sofia – didn't eat
Coffee biscuits – Wassim
Coffee
Sofia – 5/5 with an extra oomph. Had two coffees. “There was plenty of froth that was perfectly separated from the coffee but the coffee was not bitter.”
Lizzie – 5/5 – “it rivals Shenkin and Cafe Newtown”
Bec – no coffee.
Jonna – no coffee.
Wassim – an awesome 4/5.
Suzanne – 5/5, big thumbs up.
Ambience
Lizzie – 5/5
Suz – 4/5
Bec – An awesome 5/5
Wassim – An awesome 3/5
Sofia - 3.5/5
Jo – “I like it.” 4.5/5
Wassim: “Nice touches of brick and lovely contrast with the purple paint. The blackboard reminded me of a cafe in franch. There is something nice about the sun and the tree instead of the sun hitting you.” etc. I found it fascinating for the duration of typing those three lines how someone can say so much yet say nothing. Perhaps that is small minded: it could have some significance or meaning to somebody, somewhere.
Sofia: “I really like the staff too. Even if it's not silver service they're still really nice.”
Total score 23/25+ 19/20 +25/30 = a very high score!

Clipper Cafe, Glebe
No menus, all the food available was written on a big chalkboard, so we ordered from that. No paper – they didn't write down our order, it was electronic. So we went in, some girl came up to the table and said, “Hi, can I get you guys a drink?” and we said yes, and told her what we wanted, and she went and entered them all into an electronic cash register, without writing down anything. Same with the food. Very carbony footprinty thingy, not having paper or pens.
Coffee
Suzanne 5/5 it's the best coffee in Glebe. Even the orange juice is nice. (had a small mocha, and an orange juice)
Sofia 4/5 (Americano with side of skim milk)
Lizzie 5/5 (had a large soy mocha, and then a small soy mocha) it is caramelly. I agree that it's the best coffee in Glebe, it even rivals Cafe Newtown
Bec (had a large mocha) 4/5 (a happie four)
John (had a hot chocolate) 4/5
Sofia said “I'll know a 5/5 when I come to it”, and Suzanne and I gave the coffee 5/5 at this cafe. I was wondering whether I was judging by default, giving it a 5/5 because of lack of choices, when I secretly know that one day there will be a coffee in a cafe that blows my mind – no that's idealistic. I asked Sofia, thinking of idealism in the background, whether she had ever had a 5/5 coffee. She said she has, the coffee she makes at home on a machine or something is a 5/5. Oh well.
Food
John – the salt is amazing. It was in rock form in a cup with a spoon. Sea salt. 4/5
Liz I had the eggy crumpets with bacon and maple syrup. The crumpets had the eggs on/in them. Oh my god something about the sweet and sour together – maple syrup and crumpets vs eggs and baconb – hmmm. I had a sugar rush as well as my usual rush I get from eating bacon and other fried, fatty food. 4.5/5
Suz – It was nice, it needed something more on there. Also it's not my preference to have tomato, bacon and egg together – get rid of the tomato. 3.5/5
Bec – it was delicious. Had eggy crumpets as well. 3/5
Sofia – didn't order food. This is usual. assume average - 4
Atmosphere
Suzanne – I like it. it's sunny. I'm comfortable with the noise level. +10, they're playing the Americal Beauty soundtrack. 3.5/5
Lizzie – it's too noisy, in terms of the normal noise and the sound system. It had shelves with things on them around the cafe – one was a Qantas hat. 2/5
Sofia - 3/5
John- 4/5
Bec – 3.5/5
Total score: 22 + 23 + 16 = 61/75

Rolling Stones Glebe
Attended: Sunday, 3 Aug 2009
Attendees: Suzanne, Bec, Jonna, John, Lizzie
Weather: Sunny
Lizzie: This morning I was thinking of the bacon, egg and tomato and adocado wrap that we had at Sapphos and then Cafe Rolling Stones had wraps galore.
Lizzie 3/5 coffee was usual, BLT was delicious as was the bananana bread. The banana bread had this brown/black twinge to it as if it had been under the griller too long – that made it delicious. Service was good.
John 3/5 (neither happy nor sad face)
Bec 4/5 (happy face). Bec ordered a BLAT (BLT with avocado) and a pineapple juice. “It was all good.”
Jonna 2.5/5 - “because they brought out my food before my drink”. Jonna had the flu or a cold, and her voice was almost gone. She ordered (peppermint?) tea to drink with some honey on the side. However, “I like the courtyard.”
Suz 2.5/5 - because they didn't have pancakes or waffles (sad face), a weekly specialty. Disappointing. There wasn't enough variety – savoury only, instead of savoury and sweet. Liz: why don't they have pancakes or waffles? Bec: Did you see the kitchen? It's small. Liz: Oh, only enough room to make sandwiches, etc.
They let us split the bill.

The coffee was in bowls instead of cups or mugs. The coffee looked and tasted good.
Sofia “they really went to a great effort to give me what I wanted” - Sofia has a espresso with lots of skin milk froth.

Suz: It was nice to have a change [waffles rather than pancakes] however I think my preference will still be pancakes. I Enjoyed it but I wasn't blown away. Qn for Suz: Lack of pancakes on the menu is a minus? Suz: No, because this cafe is different to other cafes, having pancakes on the menu wouldn't fit with this cafe. It's a french bakery/cafe.
Liz: I ordered 5-grain bread, toasted, with butter. It came, and on the table already were a jar of chocolate spread and some apricot jams. The toast was very thin, which was nice. I had one slice covered in the chocolate spread - mmmm.

Sofia: “Though I did enjoy the juice it was overpriced (Carrot, celery and ginger: $6)”
Lizzie: I had a chicken pancetta. The chicken was a little dry, which kind of ruined it. I say “kind of” because the pancetta was gone in two seconds, I was so hungry. It was still dry. Suzanne asked me if there was any sauce on the panotta, I guess because if there was sauce it should have distracted from the dryness of the chicken or at least camouflage it. I couldn't remember if there had been sauce. I pointed at the piece of lettuce and one piece of tomato on my plate, with a dark brown drizzle on it. “That's salad dressing”. Oh. There probably was given it was an Italiam pancetta, but I ate it too quickly to notice.
Service
notes: the coffee arrived after the food – big No according to Suzanne and me.
No table service. This was good for me (Lizzie) as I wouldn't have to worry about waiters coming up to me and inquiring as to my welfare or whether I would like a drink. I didn't arrive early this time, but it would have been nice to arrive early and be left alone.

Sofia didn't have coffee but had the carrot, celery and ginger juice referred to under Food above.
Rebecca didn't have coffee but had a milkshake with berries, honey and ice-cream – it looked really nice and she said it tasted nice.
Suzanne “not the best mocha I've ever had” I agree - it was nothing compared with the coffee on offer at Cafe Newtown!
Rohan”I wouldn't complain” - I think Suzanne asked Rohan if he liked the grind bitter, or the taste it has that stays in your mouth. I think he said “yes” but I can't remember after that.
Ambience of the cafe
note: there were aeroplanes, so every time someone was talking, particularly Sofia, she just had to stop talking and whistle while the plane took a while to go over, and humm.

Lizzie: I liked it because it was a part of the bookshop Berkelows, so the clientele was likely to be bookworm-y.
